HSHT Jackson County High School Manufacturing Institute

​Twenty-six students from the Jackson County High School High Tech Program participated in a manufacturing institute at the Empower College & Career Center, Jefferson, Georgia. Students participated in a 3-day training by certified trainers and were awarded 3 industry recognized certificates that will assist them with getting employment in the field of manufacturing. The certificates that the students earned were OSHA10, Hands Only CPR/AED and Lean Six Sigma White Belt Training. Students participated in a lean hands-on simulator project and team building exercises. The manufacturing partner for this manufacturing institute was Tim Bennett, Senior Expert-Human Resources with Haering Precision in Lavonia, Georgia. He gave a presentation on employer expectations and employment opportunities at Haering Precision.

This training was sponsored jointly by United Way of NE Georgia and the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency. Courtney Etheredge with United Way of NE Georgia visited the training and observed the students participating in the hands-on simulator project and hands on CPR/AED training. Students at this training were very interactive.
