The Augusta Area High School High Tech Leadership & Recognition Event was hosted at the Augusta Marriott on May 7th, 2024. Over 150 students from Richmond, Columbia, Jefferson, Burke, and Curtis Baptist school systems attended this event to be recognized for their participation in pre-employment transition activities this school year. These activities are designed to assist them with their transition from high school to post-secondary education or gainful employment. There were 18 students who spoke about their experiences in participating in the High School High Tech Program. Students who participated and were chosen to receive laptop computers in the HSHT statewide laptop computer incentive competition were awarded their computers at this event. Josh Wells, a Columbia County graduate, was the keynote speaker. Barclay Bishop with WJBF News Channel 6 was the emcee for this event. Chris Wells, the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) Executive Director, attended the event and gave motivating opening remarks to the students. We want to thank GVRA and Georgia Rehabilitation Institute for partnering with us to make this event possible.
